2 - Aleph One

This was my second mix – I was more focussed this time. This is trance / techno between 138 and 142 BPM, and being 71 minutes long it fits on a CD. I’m still not up to doing really complex stuff, and there are some fades where the time stretching distortion is a bit obvious, but I found that the narrow scope gave me more chance to choose well.

The last half an hour or so I was able to place the tune, start playback, place the second tune, zoom in to align the beats precisely, set the fade envelopes, and sit back before playback had got to starting the second song! This is what happens when you use tracks that are less than 1% off by BPM. I was also really happy to find that Flying Into A Star and Hope were so close in both BPM (out by one beat in ten minutes!) and pitch that I was able to mix them together over four minutes.
