60 - Nine Times the Speed of Sound

I’d got a whole bunch of tracks from TrackItDown a long while ago and decided to put together another long mix. I really wanted to start with Lange’s track “Sci-Fi Hero”, but I had trouble mixing it into anything else in that key – Deadly Nightshade was a bit too hard, Resurrection didn’t sound right, and The Sword was too fast. So I thought “why not branch out a bit and find a track that does blend in”, allowing me to go from there. And so I (re)discovered “Nuances” by Albert Vorne, which fit well and led well into the rest of the tracks in that key.

Similarly, I also really like “Zara” by Arty, but it was just a bit too much of a leap to go from there (132BPM) straight to “Lust” by Velocity (148BPM). So I used some previous favourites, which almost perfectly fit in place – “Amazon” by Midway and “Universe Alive” by Gaiana and Kernavemoon (the latter the best of a rather average album purchase). The rest is pretty much all recent Trance purchases with a bit of Psy thrown in.

The name, and that of its companion mix, refer to the Mach series of mixes. I previously used that name, but I decided Mach 9 was just a bit more boring than “nine times the speed of sound”. And I’m sure I’ve heard a sample with those used on a track somewhere…
